How to make your Waistcoat Bottle Toppers for 4x4 hoops
Click HERE to see the designs

STEP ONE: Embroider the Waistcoat Bottom Design
Hoop your water-soluble stabilizer (WSS)

Color 1 embroiders the placement lines for the waistcoat bottom piece.

Place your fabric over the placement area.

Color 2 attaches the fabric to the hooped WSS.

Remove hoop and trim away the excess fabric, taking care not to snip into the WSS. Replace hoop and continue.

Remove the design from the hoop.

Trim away as much of the WSS
as possible and set aside.

Color 3 embroiders the satin stitch border Color 4 embroiders your alignment
stitches, which mark out the zigzag
bottom edge of the waistcoat top design.
STEP TWO: Embroider the Waistcoat Top and add on the bottom piece
Hoop your water-soluble stabilizer (WSS)

Color 1 embroiders the placement lines for the waistcoat top design (see red arrow right)

Place a small piece of white fabric over the shirt V-neck area in the top middle of the design.

Remove hoop from machine and trim
away excess shirt fabric.

Replace hoop and continue.

Color 3 embroiders the satin stitch top
edge of the shirt neck.

Color 2 attaches the shirt fabric to the WSS (see blue arrow above)

Place the waistcoat bottom piece that you have already done, on top of the hooped design, lining up the zigzag alignment stitches.

You could also turn the hoop over and check from the back to see if the alignment stitches are perfectly lined up. Secure in place with glue or tape to prevent shifting out of position.

Color 4 attaches the waistcoat bottom
to the hooped design.

Place your waistcoat fabric over the waistcoat placement area. Color 5 attaches the waistcoat fabric to the hooped WSS.

Remove hoop from machine and trim away excess waistcoat fabric. Replace hoop and continue

Color 6 embroiders the satin stitch border around the waistcoat as well as the two waistcoat pockets. The last three colors finish off the design detail on the waistcoat.

And there it is ... your waistcoat bottle topper made in the hoop!

All that's left is to trim or soak away the WSS.

Attach ribbons to neck and sides in order to tie the apron onto your bottle.

You can also add a little ribbon bow as a bowtie.
