Suggested Fillings for Soft Toys and Sachets

Stacey sent us some wonderful ideas for our LotsaLuv Bears. These suggestions could also be applied to our other stuffed toys and sachets. They could either be stuffed with fiber fill, herb potpourri or a comfort bear stuffed with deer corn or herbs so that it could be heated in the microwave.

Here are some ideas for filling the bear:

  • Corn
You can use deer corn, which is also called feed corn.  Corn is a larger grain than rice, wheat, or flax, so it can hold it's heat longer, yet remain moldable around arms and legs. This product can be purchased from animal feed stores.  Add some dried herbs to add a wonderful aromatic scent (i.e. add one heaped teaspoon to the corn and mix)

  • Relaxing Blend
Mix equal amounts of dried lavender buds and dried chamomile for a relaxing blend. This blend works well heated in the microwave and placed on your bed before retiring to help to slip into a restful sleep.

  • Energizing Blend
Mix equal amounts of dried peppermint leaves and dried lemon peel.  Add a small amount dried rosemary.

  • Headache Blend
Add equal amount of dried peppermint, dried sage, dried lavender and dried chamomile to help ease a headache.

  • Suggested Fabric
Use a tightly woven cotton fabric for your comfort bear.  The smaller the bear the fewer seeds/herbs will be required and it will retain the heat longer.
