One of the my projects with these designs was a sewing machine cover.
It was designed to fit my Husqvarna Viking Rose and measures approx.
14 inches across x 11½ inches high x 7 inches deep.

Pictured below are some suggested layouts for the sewing machine
cover front. Similar layouts can be used to make tote bags.

Embroider the designs on water soluble Vilene and then piece together on your sewing machine using a zigzag stitch. To make the back and sides embroider as follows:

  • Back = 12 blocks, 4 across and 3 down

  • Sides = Two sides each 6 blocks, 2 across and 3 down

  • Top = 8 blocks, 4 across and 2 down

Or you could be lazy (like me) and make the back, top and sides with fabric.

I used pre-quilted fabric for the back and sides.

The blocks can also be used as pockets for a sewing caddy. It's a great organizing tool for keeping all those embroidery essentials on hand.

I embroidered 4 sewing blocks and 2 stippled blocks. They were then pieced together as shown below.

Rough measurements for the sewing caddy fabric are as follows (add your own seam allowances):

  • Batting and backing fabric = 23½ x 21 inches

  • Front main fabric = 23½ x 13 ¾ inches

  • Contrasting front fabric = 23 ½ x 7¼ inches

Sew front main fabric (green) to contrasting fabric panel (needlework print). Then, with right sides facing, stitch batting and backing fabric to the front piece, leaving a small opening for turning right sides out. Turn, press and sew opening closed.

Center your embroidered pocket panel along the bottom edge (against the contrasting fabric panel) and sew in place with a running stitch. I made the 2nd pocket from the right (green stipple panel) into a pen pocket by stitching a straight line down the middle.
