Cell Phone Cases Set 1 Instructions

Materials required:

  • Water soluble Vilene

  • Fabric

  • Light weight batting or felt

  • Buttons ¾ inches (2 cm) diameter

  • Embroidery Threads

  • Sticky tape

Suggestion: Use the same color embroidery thread in your bobbin for all your satin stitch edges.
Step 1: Make the strap

There are two strap options provided - one piece and two piece straps - depending on your preferred strap length. Both options are made in the hoop using water soluble Vilene.

Pictured above is the two piece strap embroidered in the hoop.

The two piece strap is then joined together on your sewing machine using a zigzag stitch.
Step 2: Make the cell phone case and attach the strap


Hoop your water soluble Vilene.

Color 1 embroiders the placement lines for the front pouch.

Cut two pieces of fabric and one piece of felt/batting, all measuring approx 4.0 x 4.5 inches (10 x 11 cm).

Sandwich the felt between the two fabric pieces and lay on top of hoop, over the placement lines.

Color 2 attaches the fabric and felt to the hooped Vilene.

Color 3 embroiders the quilting lines or monogram frame, depending on which design you are using.  Then trim the top curved edge as shown above, as close to the stitching lines as possible.

 Color 4 embroiders the satin stitch top edge for the front pouch.
Color 5 embroiders the placement lines for the back pouch as well as two small markers on the top left hand side to indicate where the strap must be positioned.

Cut two pieces of fabric and one piece of felt/batting, all measuring approx. 4.5 x 4.5 inches (11 x 11 cm) for the back pouch.

Sandwich the felt between the two fabric pieces and lay behind the hoop, as shown above, covering the placement lines for the back pouch.

Then turn the hoop over and position the strap between the markers, so that the raw edge of the strap extends approx ¼ inch (0.5 cm) over the stitching line. Tape in place to prevent shifting.

Color 6 attaches the felt, fabric and strap to the hooped design.

Trim away excess fabric and felt on the front and back of the hoop. Also trim the strap edge as close to the stitching line as possible.

Color 7 finishes off the satin edge around your cell phone case. Remove the design from the hoop and soak away the Vilene.



All that's left is to slit open your buttonhole and attach a button to the top right hand corner of the front pouch.
